WFH? Interior design tips to optimize your work from home space

Updated: May 29, 2022

More people are embracing working from home and for many, it is challenging because they do not have the ample space to do so. It is important that you are comfortable when you are working and you need to optimize your home space to fit your work.

1. Create Better Lighting

It is crucial that you have the correct lighting in your office, whether you are working at home or in an office. Ensure that there is enough natural light so that you will not rely on artificial light all day, which may at times strain the eyes.

A dark space will trigger depression in many people, and it is vital that you are comfortable when you work. If the light is too bright, it will cause strain and fatigue, so you will still not be productive. A lamp might look like a décor piece to most people, but it will go a long way in saving your eyes from straining.

2. Use Softer Paint Colors or Wall Papers

As much as most people concentrate on decorating their homes just right, the office should not be overlooked. The warm color will make it easy for you to focus, and it is also inviting so that you can feel relaxed when in the office.

Even when tackling the most challenging task, a warm color makes it easy to cope with the stress. If you are not sure, you can contact a commercial wall décor expert to help with the color and the overall look. Hand a picture or any décor that will make your office look more inviting.

Please do not use a lot of bright colors in your working space because they are not relaxing. Cool looking wallpaper makes a big difference when you pair it with even cooler colors.

3. Have a Comfortable Chair and Desk

If you find yourself twitching and adjusting your body too many times as you work, then you need a new different chair. It is hard for anyone to stay focused when they are uncomfortable, and it is essential to have a workspace that keeps you comfortable.

This is especially important for people who have to work long hours. Remember that your desk should also have enough space under it so that your legs are also comfortable. Consider getting an ergonomic chair or an ergonomic addition so that you can minimize backaches.

4. Add Some Aspects of Nature

Nature is relaxing and makes people relax anywhere they are. This is why a dentist can add an aquarium in the waiting room, and there are pictures of nature in hospital hallways. If you do not have a window, you can bring nature inside by adding a picture of the ocean or trees.

Have a plant in the office or next to your desk. You can also place one on top of your desk so that you have a bit of nature near you. Please make sure you always let fresh air in your space so it is always fresh by keeping your window open whenever you can.
